It is a privilege and real pleasure to be Chair of Governors at Morley Newlands Academy. As a former Health Service Manager, I am used to working in the public sector and dealing with its challenges. Our Governing Body is comprised of people from diverse backgrounds and skills which enables us to look at governance from different angles. As Governors we are part of the team that makes Morley Newlands Academy the school that it is. We act in a questioning but supportive way to scrutinise and challenge as critical friends. As well as our strategic role, we take part in daily school life by visits, both to observe and question and also to join in celebrations.

The Academy was first rated Outstanding in 2018 and a further Ofsted visit in 2024 confirmed we are rightfully still outstanding. Everyone, including both teaching and support staff work tirelessly to ensure that all children receive not only the best academic education, but a rich and diverse cultural experience. The children enjoy a strong curriculum together with numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities. This allows them to flourish and puts them in the best possible place to take every opportunity to secure their future.

Our aim as Governors is to ensure that everyone within the Academy is supported so that the children enjoy their time at the Academy, achieve to their fullest and go on to secondary education as well-rounded individuals who have had a happy and fulfilling primary education and look forward to an exciting future. The children are well behaved and eager to learn.
