Good attendance is vital if your child is to achieve and make good progress. Term time holidays are not authorised and are likely to result in fines being issued.
If your child is unable to attend school please inform us before 8.30am or as soon as possible either by telephone, our school app or email ([email protected]) leaving your child’s full details i.e. full name, class and reason for absence. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of your child, we will contact you if we have not received notification from you. A welfare visit will be undertaken by attendance/pastoral staff if a call remains unanswered and/or there is a safeguarding concern for students with a persistent absence. The frequency of home visits will be dependent upon a number of factors determined by the Trust.
The school have the right whether or not to authorise an absence. If we have concerns over your child’s attendance, that is if their attendance falls below 96%, there are several steps we will take to ensure their attendance rapidly improves. These actions include: letters being sent to parents, meetings being held at school with our attendance officer and members of the Senior Leadership Team and an Attendance Contract being written between home and school. If attendance continues to be of a concern there is a potential for a referral to the FastTrack Initiative. This ultimately could result in prosecution in the Magistrates’ Court and the receipt of a Parenting Order or a fine of up to £2,500 for each parent or carer. Good attendance is encouraged and rewarded.
Children are rewarded weekly, half termly, termly and at the end of the year.

If you have supported your child in improving their attendance, we will acknowledge this by sending you a ‘thank you’ postcard. |

Punctuality
Being late for school makes it hard for your child to learn. If they are 30 minutes late each day it means they are missing a half day of school every week. If your child is late by 10 minutes a day he or she will miss the equivalent of one week’s learning in a year.
The school gates open at 8.30am and your child should be present in their classroom by 8.40am. If your child arrives after 9:10am they are recorded as absent for the full morning session using the code U.
